ST LUKE’S HOSPICE

ABOUT BUCKLAND

Buckland based in Nantwich, Cheshire, was founded in 2003 by Neil Buckland, a well-known and accomplished climber within the local arboriculture industry.

Sadly, Neil lost his battle with cancer in early 2007, leaving the business to his partner, Charlotte Hocknell (now Ashworth), who has continued the company in his name.

St Luke’s Hospice

Charlie and Neil’s family would like to thank St Luke’s Hospice, Cheshire, for the charity’s support throughout Neil’s illness and after his passing. St Luke’s provides support and care for thousands of families affected by cancer, and if you would like to make a donation, please click here.

Since taking over the business over a decade ago, Charlotte (Charlie) has gained relevant certification in climbing, pruning and dismantling trees (National Proficiency Tests Council), Professional Tree Inspection (Lantra/AA) and Quantified Tree Risk Assessment
(Cheshire Woodlands), and VALID Tree Risk Benefit Assessment (Validtreerisk.com). She completed her degree in arboriculture at Myerscough College, an Associate School of the University of Central Lancashire in 2014. This is a level 5 qualification, and enables Charlie to work as an arboricultural/woodland consultant. Charlie has since started progression to a Level 6 qualification.

Charlie is a professional member of the Arboricultural Association (Membership Number PRO2428) which requires she complete a set number of hours of continued professional development each year – keeping her up to date with research & methods across the industry. Charlie is also a member of the Consulting Arborist Society and the Institute of Chartered Foresters.

Charlie Ash - Buckland Tree Care Cheshire

Andrew Ashworth, joined the company in 2010 and Andrew & Charlie celebrated their wedding three years later. Andrew is now a qualified and accomplished climber, who runs the practical, contracting side of the business as joint director with Charlie.

Leaving the contracting to Andrew allows Charlie to concentrate on the consultancy side of the business. Her work ranges from free, no-obligation, initial tree health advice to in-depth reports, tree risk assessment, estate and woodland management. However, she is always on hand adding an additional level of knowledge and expertise to the team, unusual in the contracting sector of the industry. Andrew is currently studying toward a level 5 qualification in Arboriculture, progressing his knowledge and expertise to a consultancy level.

Buckland caters for both commercial and domestic clients across the North West, with contracting work varying in size from the pruning of a small garden tree, planting of hectares of new woodland, to the management of trees on large industrial sites.

Hit the mark, every time. This is what we aim for, as a team. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌳💚
As our team set out to unblock driveways, roads and more…. Please stick to essential journeys only. This is successional wet then windy weather, storm after storm, is bad news for trees. Please be careful, sensible and safe. 🌳💚🤞🏻 on a more positive note, you have to wonder at the natural engineering around us when the wind is like this. Dissipation of wind force, stabilisation, just wow! 👌🏻
Edit: Franklin! is here, it’s a bit windy. Trees that may have been partially damaged in Eunice will be struggling against this wind. I’m a qualified tree risk assessor, I can estimate only foreseeable harm presented by trees. So while that can cover a landowners duty of care, it does not cover unforeseeable tree failure and it does not cover your duty of care to yourself. Stay away from wooded areas, don’t shelter under trees and don’t take unnecessary risks or journeys until the storm is over. And once it’s over, keep your eyes open, trees can be damaged in high winds and fail a few days later. Look after yourselves and those around you. The likelihood of being killed by a tree is very low, let’s keep it that way. Charlie 🌳💚
We’ve had a busy autumn, with team changes and more enquiries than ever before. But the proof is in the pudding, happy customers and work completed to a high standard as always. Well done team! 🌳💚
There are woodland creation grants available. If you own the land, have a minimum of 1 hectare available and don’t already have a grant in place on that land then follow the link or get in touch https://www.gov.uk/guidance/england-woodland-creation-offer#find-out-if-youre-eligible
We ask for feedback from our 🌳customers and we absolutely 💚love reading their responses. There’s a few in this photo, and more on our website at http://tree-care.org.uk #lovewhatwedo #arboriculture #proudofmyteam #treecare #cheshiretrees
